Pretty Time
03:57
|
|||
I can tell when the times are hard
I always want to live upon a boulevard
but I never could quite pay that rent
And I know you said to me
we're probably gonna see things differently
but I never knew to what extent
Yeah, I thought that you would've noticed
I wrote it out across my teeth
I thought that you would've took it to mind,
but I'm never gonna get back a minute of your pretty time
So much you got so so much yeah
Eventually you get a little outta touch
and I find that quite unflattering
So give a little but not to me
Spend your pretty nickel on a charity cause I
I find my mind has been scattering
Yeah, I thought that you would've noticed
I wrote it out across my teeth
I thought that you would've took it to mind,
but I'm never gonna get back a minute of your pretty time
I KNOW WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT
THEY WANT THEIR POLITICIANS HANGIN' FROM A ROPE AND A KNOT
and I know what is on our mind,
we've been drawn and quartered, been nickel and dimed
I know what the people want
It ain't hard to see it comin' so ready or not
I know what there's gonna be,
a backbeat snare drum insurgency. Come on.

Heart Attack
03:01
|
|||
Somebody came and taught me a song, and it went like:
I tried to call then I call and I called you back
You said you were busy with a heart attack
I wanted you to give me what I lack
You said you might not get it back
So who, yeah, who believes that I can win?
Everybody walks by, they try to tell me what shape I'm in.
Yeah, I'm thinkin' I'll be famous any minute
But you think I'm a problem and a pile of wishes

One Blown Speaker
05:33
|
|||
I got lines across my face
ten bucks left of mine that I wont waste,
I got dirt in both my shoes
one blown speaker in the door of my car,
the other one's goin' too.
I got no job no place to stay, no where to work and it feels okay.
I can't scam, I don't know how
I can't cheat a fella to his face and live that down,
and I can't steal, cause that's not fair,
I tried to rob a downtown grocery store, but wal-mart beat me there
I got no job I'm goin fast, the dollar I spent, well it might be my last.
I'm no saint, well not no more
It's just another one of the names that I'll never afford
and I'm unsafe anytime
I've gotta learn to fight or run, a stick and a gun, just to keep what's mine
I got no job no fear of the law. You know what? I think it'll get me so so far.
I got paid a visit by
a fella in a black and white uniform,
who punched me in the eye.
And he said son, you better move on through,
this side of the tracks is for the suits and the slacks, not the folks like you.
But I said "Sir, listen what I say..."
and then I gave him a piece of what he had coming. And I got hauled away.
I got five years without parole, but lord one punch it was worth it, it cured my soul.
